This plate was entirely hand sculpted in a studio in Spain. Each of the plate’s three-dimensional elements was made separately, and then assembled by hand. The textures and applied glazes were prepared by the artist. The result is a beautiful plate with a raw, irregular and geometric appearance.
Asterisque is the work of a Spanish potter named Estefania. Her pieces are entirely hand-thrown, without the use of molds or wheels: she plays with various textures and glaze colors produced through personal experiments, which come together to form her unique world. Each of her creations veers towards a sense of “organic geometry.”
